Christmas in Two Hemispheres

Christmas in Two Hemispheres

Most Christmases I walk out of the post office, usually the week after the recommended posting date, and feel physically and emotionally lighter (and financially) having sent presents to family and friends overseas.

Coming from New Zealand but living in London for over 20 years, I often find it a challenge to think of gifts that are small, not too fragile and where the postage doesn’t cost as much as the present.

Given the different seasons in each hemisphere clothing can be tricky. Sports clothes and active wear are my go-tos because it’s lightweight and not too seasonally varied. And brands like Lululemon are always popular ‘down under’. In return, New Zealand and Australian lingerie by Bendon and Icebreaker merino outdoor wear are top of my Christmas wish list!

I have a mostly female family so jewellery is always well received. Necklaces, earrings and bracelets have a personal touch to them and are ideal for posting. Jewellery is also great for just about all ages. I love selecting different pieces and styles for my mother, sister and niece now she’s a teenager.

As I get busier with my interior design and jewellery businesses, getting to the shops is sometimes impossible so online shopping is my saviour. It’s so much easier to find the perfect gift, open all hours, and can help you to be super organised and get presents in the post on time.

This year, I plan to make the most of the Black Friday online sales for my Christmas shopping. I’m putting my own twist on it with a ‘Hot Pink’ sale. If you buy a piece from my website between 25 November and 3 December, you’ll receive a 20% discount on my Yoga Bunny jewellery collection. I hope it helps with gifts for your nearest and dearest!
